((After this battle gets heated up we can all decide if we want Reach to get glassed like in the books.)) "Grey team, acknowledge." Kate-Q17's acknowledgment light blinked along with Harry-G86, and Andy-B23. "Brown team, acknowledge." Jake-O87's light blinked along with Gary-U94 and of course Lance-R14. "Ok, I have got confirmation that the covie's learned the location of Reach. Our job is to defend it. We will most likely get back-up within the next few days." Lance said. "Suit up. I'll assign your places soon." ((If any of the UNSC ppl's wanna give me back up we can work something out. ))

While sitting in a drop ship Jacople tended to his weapons, with a plasma shield and a plasma rifle an unusual combination. He looked to the right. 10 more elite jackals were tending to there weapons. Some with plasma pistols some with plasma shields others with carbines. He looked at his briefing. Apparently he and his squad were to go behind enemy lines and take out the commander. FINALLY, an important mission. But then as Jacople looked closer he saw it was ment to be a suicide mission basically...Oh well. He would prove them that him and his jackals were elite soldiers not just petty thugs.

It had been some time since the hasty retreat from Sigma Octanus IV. Some, but not much. Wounds had healed, weapons had been recharged and reloaded, promotions had been given, and, most importantly, a human stronghold had been discovered. The world they called Reach, on which the UNSC had built a sprawling military base, had been found. It was to be the next target of the Covenant's mighty fleets. Karj sat in the Phantom (Covenant combat dropship) next to the newly promoted Skont, the Jackal he had managed to rescue from the battle at Sigma Octanus IV. Skont had gradually recovered from his wounds, showing unusual toughness for a member of his race. This had not gone unnoticed. He had undergone brief officer training, been promoted to Jackal Major, and put under the patronage of his rescuer so that he could learn leadership skills in the field with an experienced officer. The two Majors sat closest to the Phantom's exit, ready to leap out and secure the landing site. Behind them was a squad composed of six grunts with plasma pistols, six jackals likewise equipped, and a very unhappy elite with a plasma sword, who had been dishonored when he argued with a superior officer. The Covenant do not tolerate internal struggles, but neither do they readily sacrifice good warriors. Thus the elite had been assigned to serve under Karj until he proved he could take orders properly again.
The Phantom hurled toward the surface of Reach, firing its heavy plasma cannons repeatedly as it wove to avoid AA fire. Covenant sensors had managed to track how far the surface defenses were firing on average, coming up with a rough range for them. All normal squads, such as Karj's, were to land just outside this range and shred their way into the center of the base. The Special Ops. squads, meanwhile, would land behind the defenses while they were occupied elsewhere and carry out their missions of assassination, sabotage, and theft of information and human technology for later analysis. It was an old, time-tested tactic. The troops could only hope it would work once again.
The Phantom bounced slightly as it returned to a fully horizontal position long enough to drop the boarding ramp. Karj's squad charged out, the Jackals in the lead. They used their shields to deflect as much enemy fire as they could, keeping it away from the rest of the group. The squad began to fire in all directions, for in all directions there was something to shoot. They proceeded quickly toward their first objective: the outer defense mainframe (Designated point DEMON). If they could destroy it they could knock out the defenses for at least ten minutes while the humans scrambled to get emergency power to the turrets. Obviously it was highly defended to ensure this tactic was not used, but perhaps not defended well enough... Before reaching it, however, the group would have to take two bunkers (Points BATTLEFRONT and CRUSADE) in order to secure the area for the advancing Covenant forces.
The Jackals formed a square around the rest of the squad, deflecting incoming fire and shooting with their plasma pistols in between enemy volleys. The Elite had very little to do at this stage other than keep out of the line of fire, but that would soon change. The group fought its way to the first defensive bunker, taking shelter against its walls so that they were just barely out of range of the guns inside. Quickly the Elite moved into position. He readied a plasma grenade in one hand and took a firm grip on his sword with the other. Taking a deep breath he sliced through the hinges, kicked the door in, threw in his grenade, and ducked outside. The bunker, designed to withstand a near-direct hit with heavy explosive weaponry, had reinforced walls and doors but required little in the way of thick hinges (a vacuum sealed door cannot be bashed in by a blast, so the hinges don't need to be thick as long as the door makes a perfect seal). Exclamations followed by screams of agony echoed from inside, the squad charged in. Kicking the humans, some still feebly alive, out of the way, Karj ordered the squad to hold the position while he used his communicator.
"Templar 2 to Invincible Avatar, we have secured point BATTLEFRONT. Preparing to move to point CRUSADE. Templar 2 out."

A crackle came over Jacoples ear " We have secured point BATTLEFRONT, preparing to move to CRUSADE" Jacople chuckled to himself...It seems Karj was a worthy commander at least. Suddenly a red warning light came on. Time for him and his squad to leave. As soon as he jumped the world became a different place. Gunfire and screams echoed all around him as his jackals formed a tight shield wall. Firing when they could they slowly moved back into a alley where they would run off to there first objective. Apparently there was some information at a bunker to the south. Through out the battle it would be refereed as point TECHPOINT. Once Jacople and his squad had reached the ally he decided to do something about those marines before leaving. "You two with the carbines! Get on that roof and try take out some marines. The rest of us will provide a distraction" As the main squad formed a shield wall Jacople fired wildy with his plasma rifle. Suddenly a marines head exploded blasted by a carbine. Then the marine to his left was shot in the arm. But then using his last ounce of strength threw a grenade right into the shield wall. "SCATTER" Jacople jumped to the left and was lucky enough not to die. But as he looked around he saw three of his jackals were dead. "Jackals withdraw! Use your shields! You with the carbines give us some cover fire!" Dam...The plan had backfired and now Jacople was three men down. When all of his jackals had regrouped in the nearby ally he realized another jackal had been cut down by fire while retreating and another was wounded...Great..Now he only had 5 full strength jackals and one wounded.
20 minutes later Jacople had arrived exactly 300 meters from his objective TECHPOINT. "OK jackals, since we are low on people we will have to try something different. Luckily Karj destroyed BATTLEFRONT and they've reinforced CRUSADE with men from this station. So what we are going to do is position a sniper on that roof. I want you to pick off anyone you can while me and Ioyn go round that building and try and take out those men manning the turrets. You other 3 go to that building over there and lay down all your fire on that main door. Act like your waiting for reinforcements. Then once I have taken down those turrets. Retreat and come round to me. The sniper will pin down the men at the door. STOP THEM FROM GETTING TO THOSE TURRETS! Then when the rest of us have secured the back door and the turrets you fall back. Let those men run over to the turrets where we will quickly mow them down. Then you come and join us. OK? HOORA!" Quickly Jacople ran off with his men anticipating the fight.

"Invincible Avatar to Templar 2. Your position is confirmed. Additional troops are arriving to secure point BATTLEFRONT. Proceed to point CRUSADE. It will be heavily defended, so exercise caution. Invincible Avatar out.
Karj put his communicator back within his armor and ordered his squad to move out. Sure enough two Elites and several Grunts arrived to hold BATTLEFRONT, enabling Karj to abandon the area. With this first attack, however, he had lost the element of surprise. They would try to hold him at CRUSADE, and if that failed throw whatever they could into DEMON to prevent its destruction. Still, advancing to CRUSADE was his immediate concern. The squad cut a gory path through the thick of the battle, giving out and sustaining casualties. When they reached the satellite array near CRUSADE Karj stopped to take stock of his losses. Half the Grunts were gone, as well as a third of the Jackals. He would have to be careful and precise when attacking CRUSADE.
CRUSADE was a fortified command post at the back of the first defensive line. It was equipped with auto-targeting AA guns, armor powerful enough to sustain a direct hit with a large explosive device, and an armory containing the hated and feared rocket launchers. A direct assault would be suicidal, as would the kick-in-the-door tactic used before. The situation called for something new, and Karj had an idea. The Elite placed a plasma grenade directly against the front wall of the command post, where it would do next to nothing but create a large amount of sound. He then placed one on the roof of the building and one next to the door. The squad retreated a little ways while the grenades exploded, all within a second of each other. Voices issued from inside the bunker.
"We're being bombarded! The AA guns must be malfunctioning. Quick, get out there and repair them before the radar array is destroyed!"
Four marines and a technician left the building, and Karj's squad rushed in from behind them. The repair squad didn't notice over the noise of battle, and tried desperately to figure out what was wrong with the perfectly functional AA guns. Karj's group ran inside the bunker so as not to tip off the repair squad, then set to slaying the few remaining defenders on the top level (the command post has an underground storage area that is always guarded). This was accomplished with the loss of a single Grunt. The squad sealed the door behind them and charged into the lower level, ready to massacre the last of the humans.
What happened next seemed to be ins slow motion. The Elite cut into a human with his plasma sword, killing him instantly, and whirled, several Grunts and Jackals behind him. Two humans with rocket launchers stood there, and did not hesitate for a second. They fired, instantly killing the last two Grunts and on Jackal, as well as wounding the Elite with shrapnel. Even as they prepared to fire again they were cut down by plasma pistols, but the damage had been done. The squad now consisted of four Jackals (counting Karj and Skont) and a wounded Elite. The prospects were not good, given that angry human reinforcements were attempting to blow their way in. They were trapped, and in small numbers. The Jackals lowered the Elite to the floor and examined his wounds while Karj pulled out his communicator.
"Templar 2 to Invincible Avatar. We have suffered heavy losses and are pinned down inside point CRUSADE. We will attempt to break out but are outnumbered at least three to one by human reinforcements. Any available troops should be sent to our position. Templar 2 out."

Alivon sat in the pilots seat of his dropship, casually flying the large pelican. He was humming a tune with a grin on his face. Why did he have a grin on his face you might ask? Perhaps it was because he was acting so casual in the midst of a planetary battle? No...It was the fact that he was flying the ship a mere foot off the ground, a fact which wa confirmed as the upper half of what had been a jackal sprayed over the front viewport of the pelican.
"Damn it, that's going to take forever to get off" He frowned for a second as the windshield wipers bounced over the remains of jackal. He shrugged and concentrated on his driving. " I bet getting a covie sucked up into a plane intake would be pretty awsome...." He said out of nowhere. Alivon tended to think of these things from time to time.
He turned on the outside speakers of the pelican, and blasted the most childish music he had, announcing his presence. "Look out you dang invaders...it's roadkill time..."

"Grey team, I want you on the perimeter of our base, fend of those covies!" Lance exclaimed. "Brown team, your with me. We are on a rescue mission. From the last blast of covenant plasma to Mt. Castle (the mountain behind reach base) a part of the mountain collapsed and there are 3 VIP's in there. Admiral Stadworth, Dr. C. Harvey, and General Yukatami. They were all in the infirmary which is in the middle of the mountain. Lets move out team..."
Static crackled over the private com. of the grey team. "Grey team, make su-*static*-ou guys stay ali-*static*-ood luck." Lance told the team. "Ok guys lets move out and take them-" Kate was interrupted by the sudden roar of pelican engines. The base was evacuating the wounded and bringing them to the closest non-covie invaded/glassed planet. "Anyway, lets movie out and take them covies out." As the approached the perimeter, they saw a covenant carrier make its way out of the atmosphere."Aw, s**t...this cannot be good" said Harry-G86. Harry was more of the laid back type. Him and Lance had alot in common. Under Harry's "Rogue" helmet he had slicked back blond hair. All of the Spartan III's, except Lance, wear the Rogue helmet. Lance wears the E.O.D helmet. Kate, the leader of the Grey team, told the team "Harry" she pointed to the machine gun on the right of the front entrance, "I want you there, and Andy" she pointed to the machine gun on the left. "I want you there. As for me" She walks toward a captured Wraith, "I'll be in this. Grey team," there was a long dramatic pause "give em' hell."

The remnants of Templar 2 took turns making a pile of rocket launcher ammunition next to the door, going up and down the stairs again and again. It seemed that no help would arrive for them, so they would find their own way out. The Elite sat in the storage chamber and rested while the Jackals moved anything remotely explosive in front of the door. The angry hammerings on the outside of the bunker had yet to cease; some of them were certainly gunfire. At last the pile of ammunition was nearly as tall as the door. The squad, except for Karj, took refuge in the storage chamber. Karj threw the last of the Elite's plasma grenades onto the pile, then dove down the stairs. An explosion so huge it shook the building to its foundations commenced, and shrapnel flew everywhere as an entire wall came crashing down. The bunker was capable of withstanding anything from the outside. Clearly the opposite was true within.
Karj picked himself up from the pile of metal dust and chunks of masonry, most of which had mercifully missed. He rubbed his arms and legs, removing the fine coating of human building materials, and yelled to his squad to form up. The Jackals ran through the collapsed wall, leaping over jagged pieces of metal, and fired madly from behind their shields. Some of the besieging humans had been close to the wall and now lay dead in puddles of gore. Most of them, however, had been far enough away to avoid the explosion. They opened fire, and the Jackals formed a shield wall to deflect the enemy bullets. Running through the crowd of enemy fire they leapt away just in time for the UNSC troops to be mowed down by a Banshee squad.
"Transmission received, Templar 2. You should be out of danger now. Proceed to point DEMON, leaving the wounded behind. Our troops will take care of them when they arrive to hold the position. Beware, point DEMON has been reinforced by enemy armored vehicles. You may wish to move to point SERAPHIM first, as a Phantom carrying a pair of Lekgolo was shot down there. They seem to still be alive, along with a few Uggoy. Invincible Avatar out."
"Squad, our objectives have been updated. Proceed to point SERAPHIM to rescue downed allies, who will assist us in taking point DEMON. Let's move!"

Buwan could here the roar of gunfire and the crackling of fire around him, and as he regained full consciousness, he realized that the ship he had been taking a nap in had now been shot down. He crawled slowly out of the wreckage and readied his plasma pistol. While sweeping the area with his gun, he noticed the two Lekgolo crawl from the crash site and run forward together next to a rock nearby, but what he noticed next was the dead body of his squad leader, a young Sangheili. A fairly pleasing sight for Buwan, as the Sangheili often ruined his fun.
"Woo Wee that was CRAZY, Buwan exclaimed as he noticed 2 of his fellow Unggoy squad members crawl from the wreckage of the Phantom, wheres my big gun?" One of the other Unggoy pulled a plasma cannon over to Buwan and set it in front of him. "Go to the Lekgolos, get ready for fight!", Buwan yelped at the lower Unggoy.
Suddenly, Buwan heard one of the Lekgolo's cannons fire, followed by an explosion, and as he looked up, he saw the now smoldering chassis of one of the fast human vehicles, the Warthog, as they called it. "Nice shot!", Buwan yelled as he set up his plasma cannon by the downed Phantom. Two more of the Human vehicles drove by and open fired on the crew. Buwan ducked behind his plasma cannon, missing the more defensive cover of the Shade turret. He and the others fired on the vehicles, the Unggoy took out one, while the Lekgolo demolished the other.
"This is gonna be fun", Buwan shouted, and he fired off a few shots with joy.

Jacople lined up one of the turret gunners in the sights of his carbine. Ioyn was doing the same. Blam. Blam. They both fired at almost the same time and the gunners rolled down to the floor. As the other three men realized they were under attack Jacople nailed one of them in the head while Ioyn hit another in the chest. Then they both sniper the last marine causing him to erupt in a bloody shower. "OK squad this is Jacople we have secured the door you three at the main door pretend you retreating. Sniper pin the other men down." Jacople smiled as he placed himself behind a turret. He herd noises to his left and realized the other three had come. "You three take defensive positions." "Sniper, fall back." As the men at the front door realized they weren't under attack the raced around to the back to help there comrades then...BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM! The chain guns ripped the 6 marines to shreds. Jacople smiled to himself. All defenders on the outside had been eliminated...There would most likely only be scientists and maybe a few marines on the inside.
As Jacople started picking the lock his men covered him with there Plasma Shields. They would storm in and form a shield wall while taking care of anyone inside. Click. The door was unlocked. Jacople picked up a fallen marines frag grenade and signaled to his other 6 jackals. "When we enter, unleash hell" Then he pushed the door open threw a frag then ran in after it. "Team make a wall" As the wounded Jackal was shot to pieces Jacople realized there were more men in here then he had thought. "SHIELD WALL NOW" As they formed a shield wall Jacople shot wildly with his plasma rifle and listened to the screams as superheated plasma burned the mens flesh. Suddenly Jacople saw a marine stop to reload. Lifting up his shield he shot the marine in his face. Then one of his comrades looked down and then Ioyn shot him in the arm and chest. The fight was starting to swing our way. As Jacople looked around he saw two scientists and two marines trying to leave the building. "Team the bird is trying to leave the nest. Pursue." As the shield wall quickly moved to cut off the scientists Jacople shot one of them down while Ioyn killed another remaining defender. It seems Ioyn would make a worth second in command though Jacople. Then the scientists came into sight and the Jackals mowed them down. As they turned around to deal with the last three marines Jacople realized he had lost two more men and only had 5 Jackals (including himself) left. Nether the less they destroy the remaining marines and secured the technology. "Drop ship 101 come in" "Drop ship 101 hearing you loud and clearly, whats you status. "We have secured TEACHPOINT and are requesting extraction so we can resupply. Please come immediately we can not hold against a full force." "Drop ship 101 zooming in on your position I'm out side.......................Now! HOLY CRAP MOVE OUT MEN THERES MARINES CLOSING IN ON YOUR POSITION!" Jacople and his men scurried out the back door but not before Ioyn positioned himself on one of the turrets. "Ioyn what are you doing?" "Giving you some time now go!" As Ioyn wildly fired into the marines Jacople noticed he was bleeding from a chest wound. "Go strong Ioyn" said Jacople. And ran into the drop ship. As he left he saw Ioyn mow down countless marines before being shot in the head neck chest and shoulder. As Jacople presented his commander with the information he sighed. 6 good jackals had been lost. And now he had only 4 to take his next objective. As he looked at his briefing though he noticed his total briefing plan had changed. They had told him to met up with Karj and help him for the time being. "OK Jacople, Time for you to leave Drop ship 101 Karj is waiting directly below. So Jacople and his other Jackals jumped from the drop ship weapons fully loaded to see what hell awaited them.

Karj's squad wove their way through the battlefield, trying not to get caught up in the fighting. They had a specific goal, and they intended to accomplish it as quickly as possible. The Jackals ran low to the ground, shields covering their vitals, until they arrived on a ridge overlooking point SERAPHIM. The tangled remains of the Phantom were well beyond repair, clearly torn apart by several AA guns. The missing Lekgolo stood a little ways from their gutted transport, surrounded by several Uggoy. One of them was gleefully dodging, firing, and shouting all at the same time. This behavior was unusual for a Grunt. Could he be... the infamous "Loud One"? Only one way to find out. The squad ran toward point SERAPHIM, firing in all directions, and took cover behind the wreckage. Karj yelled at the top of his lungs, hoping to be heard over the din of battle.
"Uggoy and Lekgolo! We have need of you at point DEMON and will escort you there! For now, come take cover over here. We require you intact."
Moments later a Phantom soared over Karj's head, depositing several Jackals. Karj looked up at the Jackal in command and saluted lazily.
"Reinforcements? Good, we'll need them. We're to take out the outer defense mainframe at point DEMON so that we can land more troops without what happened here happening again. Is your squad ready to proceed?"

((Karj, Jacople is not an elite lol he is a jackal )) After hearing what he had to do thought over the position...Split up and hit from multiple sides. Or stick together. Since Jacople only had 3 other jackals with him he decided best to stick together. OK Karj due to the significance of our mission they gave us to fuel rod cannons. We better use them wisely. I say we go over into that building and leave to Jackals with the fuel rods to fire at anything they see fit. These grunts..Are they coming with us? They have fuel rods to but they can stay inside our shield wall and take out Warthogs and such. We should attack straight down the middle they wont expect that and then you grunts take out any turrets and heavy defense. I also received several plasma grenades which should help. From what I have seen these bases would usually contain 15-20 marines 3 turrets. We are going to be severally out number and outgunned. Expect heavy losses. When we advance right down the middle hopefully no-one will notice the jackals in the buildings and we can protect the grunts with our shield wall. If we take out the turrets quickly our shield wall shouldn't buckle. Watch for snipers. READY?! HORA!

((Sorry, it's been fixed now))
Karj nodded upon hearing the plan of action, ordering his squad to form a shield wall and move out. The battle still raged around them, and it would be a hard fight to reach point DEMON.
"Alright, let's move out! The sooner we get there the sooner we can proceed."
The Jackals ran through the battlefield, deflecting gunfire away from the Grunts and Hunters. Point DEMON was directly across the field, and defended by at least two tanks and three human infantry squads, not to mention automated defenses. Still, they had all the weaponry they could muster. They had to take the point and destroy the outer defense mainframe, for the sake of their honor. Marines fired and were cut down by the thunderous answer, even as the front lines of the Covenant suffered the same fate. The auto-defenses had to go down soon.
Within ten minutes the group stood just below the hill they would have to storm. The humans and their war machines patrolled the area, ready to open fire on intruders but expecting none. The squad would have to move quickly and devastate the enemy before their presence was noticed.
"My squad, form a shield wall. Everyone else, prepare to fire. Anything else before we move in?"

A loud whine could be heard in the direction of the hill, and a huge dust cloud would appear, along with some kind of odd children's music. Sure, it might have been against regulations, but it was Alivons...er...Warcry?
He sat at the controls, casually piloting mere feet off the ground, he looked up from the controls and noticed the hill looming in front of him. He pulled hard on the thrust and controls, bringing hi up and over the hills. This in turn actually sprayed up loose dirt and debris, possibly creating the most bizarre and terrifying scene as he approached the front lines of the covenant.
"I'm back you Bastards!" He yelled into the Pelican's outer speakers. He flew low to the ground, determined to play chicken with the front lines. "who's gonna move first, you...or the several tonne machine?!" he mumbled.
He grinned evilly as his pelican tore up the ground as he approached the group. The jackal named "karj" might have noticed his piloting style, especially him moving at full speed in a pelican close to the ground.

Karj's eyes grew wide. He knew this human pilot's tactics, having very nearly fallen victim to them the last time he was on a UNSC world. Armed as he was, he could do little against the armored dropship. With two Hunters and their fuel rod cannons, however, it might be the Pelican that was crushed. Still, the immediate concern was that the enemy vessel was heading straight for them, so Karj reacted to it first.
"Scatter!"
Jackals, Grunts and Hunters alike dove out of the way of the oncoming dropship, the vast majority avoiding it due to the timely warning. One of Karj's Jackals was down, but neither Hunter had suffered so much as a scratch on their armor. The hulking pair focused their mighty weapons on the missile launchers and other weapon systems the Pelican carried, hoping to destroy them before they fired. Karj's remaining squad members encircled them, deflecting fire away with their Point Defense Gauntlets (fancy term for plasma shields). They group was fast losing the element of surprise. They would have to redouble their assault to reach their target.

"SQUAD! MOVE" Jacople fired hard as he look at the hell around him. He saw Karj and nodded. They both realised they would lose lots of numbers in the coming assult. "OK men! This is it. It's time we showed what Jackals can do! Remember to protect the Hunters. There our only hope. OK MEN! CHARGE!" Jacople screamed as he charged up the hill to point DEAMON. He saw the marines fall to the hunters fuel rods and grinned. Then he saw his own men. 4 Jackals had died. 2 from Jacople's squad and 2 from Karj's. As Jacople threw a plasma grenade he saw another marine go down and a turret blasted by a fuel rod. They were winning! But the price would be high. They had to do something drastic. A glint formed in Jacoples eye as he came up with a idea. "Karj I need all the plasma grenades in the squad." As Jacople recived all grenades he stuck them on a warthog nearby. Smiling to himself he jumped into the car. "Hunters, covering fire please" As the Hunters rained hell on the marines Jacople drove the car towards there barricade. At the last second he jumped out. BOOOOM! The barricade blew to bits. Screams of dying men echoed around him. Jacople looked over at Karj who nooded. Then the roar of a engine sounded and Jacople realised the pelican was back!

((he never left-.-))
Alivon swing the dropship around as he came to wards the front line, attempting to fishtail the bunch of them. The gunner on the back of the pelican began to fire the mounted chain gun. The engines being on full throttle, and the stress of suddenly stopping caused the jet fire from the bottom of the engines to scorch the ground, another hazard for the covenant troops. Alivon was aiming specifically for the hunters when he fired two missiles off of his pelican, he would have fired more, but the blasted thing jammed. "damn it..." alivon would then try to fly the ship away from whatever damage he had caused

Karj turned from his charge just in time to see two missiles speed from the Pelican toward the Hunters. Nothing he could do would change the outcome, so he could only watch helplessly as one of them was blown in half. The Pelican then fled, unable to inflict further damage. Hunters always travel in pairs, and when one dies, the other snaps. This one was no different. Enraged by the loss of its partner the Hunter charged the enemy line, doing as much damage by bashing marines out of the way as with its fuel rod cannon. It leapt onto one of the tanks, thrust its weapon down the tank's cannon's barrel, and fired. The ammunition store inside exploded, throwing the Hunter back nearly forty feet and blowing the Scorpion up from the inside out. The Covenant troops took cover as a rain of jagged metal shards fell from the sky, striking anyone within twenty feet of the tank's remains.
The second tank arrived to hold the position, but it was struck by a falling Banshee, jamming the main gun. As the tank's pilot tried desperately to remove the jagged hulk from his weapon Karj and Skont rushed forward. They ran past the tank and into the Outer Defense Mainframe building, blasting a few surprised marines out of their way. They were out of plasma grenades, so they would have to think of another way to destroy the main computer. Going for the simple, brutal, and effective Karj shoved his plasma pistol through the delicate screen and overcharged it, leaping out of the way as the wires fused together from the heat and emitted a powerful electric discharge.
Immediately the turrets outside began to sag, temporarily out of power. It would be at least ten minutes before the humans could have them online again, a ten minutes that would not be wasted. Collecting a M6D pistol from the body of one of the marines Karj began to get a feel for the weapon. Since he could no longer use his plasma pistol, he would make do with human weapons. In his other hand he pulled out his communicator.
"Templar 2 to Invincible Avatar. Point DEMON has been taken and the target there neutralized. Human defenses should be offline for the moment. The area is ready for additional reinforcements."
"Confirmed, Templar 2. We are moving in Specters closer to the Human base. They will be located at points ADAMANT and MONOLITH. Your next target is the entrance to the human base at point FORTITUDE. Proceed there immediately. Invincible Avatar out."
"Understood, Templar 2 out."
Karj moved back outside, closely followed by Skont. The two Jackals motioned to the rest of the Covenant forces that had accompanied them, awaiting their arrival so they could move on. Karj stowed his communicator in his armor again, knowing that his allies would have heard the message over their own comm units. The entrance to the human base would be defended by auto turrets not affected by the Outer Defense Mainframe, so it would be a tough fight to gain entry. Tough, but not quite impossible...

As Karj moved on Jacople was nowhere to be seen. In fact no-one had seen him since the Hunter had gone berserk. The truth was a flying piece of metal from the tank explosion had knocked him un-conscious. When he awoke he realized two things...He was in ALOT of pain and he was tied up. "Oi...He is awake" Jacople herd the sound of the humans...Surely..No...He couldn't be..Captured...As Jacople looked around he realized thats things were going to get alot worse before they got better. A door open and a man came in. "Whats your plan here" He used a translator. "Yeah, like I'm going to tell you" Jacople spat. Jacople thought about his situation. He did not fear death but didn't rush to embrace it. There was no way out. But...Maybe Karj would come...surely after what Jacople had done for him before the war.....
((Karj i know nothing has happened with us but i think it would be kool if we had some past history were i have saved u or something)

((That would certainly add depth to both characters. Karj fought the UNSC on several outer colonies before their actual military arrived, so it could be then. It is also possible that he was the target of a larger Covenant being, perhaps an Elite, and Jacople defused that situation. Either way, sounds like a solid idea))
Karj looked around, trying to locate the last remnants of the Covenant squads that had been with him. A few Jackals, several Grunts... but where was Jacople? Karj and Skont called his name and combed the area for him, to no avail. He was gone. But where? Karj removed his communicator from his armor once again.
"Templar 2 to Invincible Avatar. We cannot locate the leader of our accompanying special forces squad. Give us a mark on his location."
"Those are not your orders, Templar 2. Your orders are to..."
"I don't care! Give me his location, now!"
"Confirmed, Templar 2. After the battle there will be consequences for this action. The squad leader is located at point LIMBO, in human custody. Once he is freed you are expected to return to the battle. Invincible Avatar out."
"Change of plans, squad. Jacople has been captured by the UNSC scum, and we're going to liberate him. Head to point LIMBO as quickly as possible!"
Karj could hardly leave Jacople to rot in a cell after what the other Jackal had done for him. Still, gaining entry into the human prison compound would not be easy. It was located behind the main base, but had a separate gate in case there was a prison break. An electrified fence surrounded the compound, and while many of the guards would be fighting on the front lines it would still be well defended. How could they get inside? They still had two fuel rod cannons, and that was what they would have to count on. The squad moved quickly through the battle once more, dodging and deflecting fire until they reached the outer wall of the prison. This wall was composed of tough masonry topped by auto-turret defenses. The weakest portion, the gate, was also the most heavily defended. With as few troops as were available, a direct assault would be suicidal.
Taking the human pistol he had scavenged Karj activated the scope and sniped the guard on the closest part of the wall in the head. Several other guards ran to his position and were eliminated with a well-placed fuel rod cannon shot. The closest defenses were likewise destroyed, and the Jackal Special Ops deployed their belt grapples, linking them to the top of the wall. The squad began to climb as quickly as they could, hoping to reach the top before they were detected.
On top of the wall the Jackals mowed down three guards, suffering a single casualty. There were now only five, but they were determined to reach the objective. Moving to the ground on the other side of the wall they blew a hole in the electrified chain link fence with a fuel rod cannon and charged through the makeshift opening. Taking cover behind a storage building Karj sniped the two guards outside of the first prison building. The group ran across the central path, staying low to the ground, and dragged the bodies inside. Karj located a few clips of pistol ammunition on the corpses and took them, ready to reload if need be. The squad began to systematically sweep the building, but its only inmates were disobedient UNSC soldiers. They left through the back, blowing a further two guards out of the way, and approached the next building.
There were no guards outside this one, but it was high security. The combination showed that the guards were probably inside interrogating a prisoner; just what Karj expected. The squad moved stealthily inside through the back entrance, pointing their weapons at anything that moved. Most of the cells were empty, but a few contained near-dead Grunts and even an Engineer captured from a Covenant ship. Each of them had a different code to open their cell, to prevent a prison break becoming large too quickly. The squad would have to locate the main computer to find out these codes, then enter them manually. The humans had been careful.
The group moved down the hallways trying to locate the interrogation room, and it wasn't long before they found it. Seven guards with assault rifles, an officer with a pistol, and an unarmed translator were inside in addition to two guards outside. They would all have to be dispatched quickly and quietly in order to keep Jacople alive. The captured squad leader was bound to a chair in the center of the room with magnalocks. The key would have to be located before he could be freed, for no Jackal was strong enough to pull the huge magnetic wrist cuffs apart. It was likely that the officer had it, which was fortunate for the squad. The five positioned themselves carefully, then leapt onto the door guards from behind, slashing their throats with their claws. At first the thin armor in the area held it back, but before the guards could manage anything more than a gurgle their wind pipes had been cut. Shaking human blood from his fingers Karj positioned himself beside the door, gun at the ready. It was time to liberate his old friend.
The Jackals burst into the room, firing everywhere at once. The surprised guards went down without much effort, but the officer and translator dove for cover in time to avoid the initial volley. The officer shot one of the Jackals between the eyes, killing him instantly, but was shot in turn by the rest of the squad. The translator backed against the wall, hands in the air. Ignoring the remaining human Karj ran over to the officer and pulled the code-cylinder out of the pocket on the chest section of his uniform. He slid the cylinder across the magnalocks, causing them to release Jacople's wrists and ankles. Karj helped him to his feet, as he was no doubt sore from his imprisonment.
"My friend, you are freed. We came for you, as you no doubt knew we would. I have never forgotten what you did for me. Now, let us make good use of this human we have captured. We'll make him get the cell codes from the main computer and enter them, freeing our brothers. If he survives, we can take him back to the fleet and interrogate him, just as he planned to do to you. Let us hurry!"
"Wha... Whatever you say, just don't hurt me, please! I'm not with the military, I'm just a civillian..."
"Enough! More moving, less talking, human. Let's go, old friend. We'll put this human to work.

Conner had landed on Reach a bit away from the rest of the group, He talked into his com "Gray team, Brown team come in!" he exclamined "Gray team, Brown team this is spartan-131 come in i repeat this is spartan-131 come in." he yelled into his com. "Shit" he muttered under his breath, he shifted his assualt rifle looking around for a marine or another Spartan around here, he tried reaching Lance again, "Gray Team, Brown team this is Spartan-131 Green team has been nuatrilized i need your courdinates NOW!" he said through his com, His Team had not survived the landing on Reach and know he was alone. He wasn't afraid but he wasnt stupid either, he wasnt the Master Chief who could take on thousands of Covie forces without breaking a sweat.

As, Jacople stumbled along he thanked Karj. Undoubtedly there would be consequences but at least they were both alive. As he moved to the computer another jackal bandaged his neck. Jacople had lost alot of blood and was very weak and was limping more then ever. He looked at the warriors around him. A few were wounded. Most likely several had died to save him. Jacople would thank each of them in turn later. As Karj handed him a pistol Jacople inspected it. Of course like any commander he had taken weapon training for human weapons but it had been awhile. After a couple of test shots and reloads he was ready. As they were walking to the control room and group of marines came. Obviously to see what had happened. Take cover Jacople hid behind a pillar. He leaned out and...BLAM! A marine fell to the floor. Karj took a pot shot from behind his shield and another marine feel down. A grunt screamed as a marine turned him into bloody shreds. As a jackal distracted the last marine Karj took him from the right with a perfect head shot. Jacople limped over and picked up a assault rifle. They sure were powerful. Reloading Jacople watched Karj check on the dead grunt. He didn't seem to like leaving anyone behind. Suddenly Jacople remembered the translator! Searching around him he saw him scurrying off. "Karj, look! The translator!" BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! "Shit!" Karj yelled as the man rounded a corner. Suddenly an alarm went off! Karj yelled "EVERYONE MOVE OUT NO TIME TO RESCUE THE OTHERS!!" As they rushed away Jacople herd the unmistakable sound of a warthog. The chain-gun would rip them to pieces. "You grunts! Get ready to fire on the warthog." As the warthog rounded the corner it fish-tailed wildly. The first few shots from the fuel rods missed. "Dam it hurry up and reload." A Jackal suddenly started dancing the dance of death. His body thrashed wildly before falling to the floor. Bloody holes everywhere. Suddenly the gunner slumped and fell off. Jacople looked to Karj in surprise only to see him kneeling pistol in hand. A perfect shot! As a grunt finished reloading his cannon he fired several times hitting the hog on the last shot. Karj yelled "Good work team time to move!" "Wait" Jacople replied. "Why don't we find a garage and drive out?" Karj smiled as they followed the warthogs tracks. Luckily the garage was just around the corner. Unluckily it was filled with 6 marines hurrying into vehicles. Not needing instructions the team fired. 4 marines fell suddenly and to took cover. As Jacople nailed one and Karj killed the other they truly appreciated the element of surprise. "OK grunts in the passenger seat everyone else whatever you prefer. They maned up two Warthogs and Jacople slipped the car into drive. "Karj, I'll follow you" Karj blasted down the road and Jacople followed. The gunners were put to the test as they blasted several marines as they ran to the alarm. Luckily alot of men had been killed in the first assault. "Grunts, make a hole in that fence so we can get out!" The grunts fired several times and opened a hole barely wide enough. As the warthogs blasted through the hole and drove on everyone cheered. How they had survived no-one new but they had! Several hundred meters away they stopped. "Well Karj...What now?"

Karj wiped sweat from his face, releasing his hands from the steering wheel and leaning back in the driver's seat. Suddenly he felt very tired. It had been a long day already, but there was still more to be done. He looked over at the other Warthog and grinned.
"Now that we've managed to get every marine in the prison compound trying to kill us, what can we possibly do that will top that? Let's find out."
Removing his communicator from his armor Karj moved it to his mouth.
"Templar 2 to Invincible Avatar. We have successfully extracted from the prison compound with our target, stealing two human vehicles in the process. Do you have further orders?"
"Templar 2, you survived. Interesting. We have been unable to enter the human base through the main entrance; it is too well defended. Your task is to find a secondary entrance, perhaps a supply tunnel or open hangar bay, and if possible open the main door from the inside. The main door is located at point FORTITUDE, but do not attempt to reach it from the outside. You are near the Phantom at point MONOLITH, so it might be wise to seek reinforcements and additional weapons there. Invincible Avatar out."
"Alright, squad. We're going to reload and reinforce at point MONOLITH, then try to find a back entrance and open the main door, point FORTITUDE, from the inside. Move out!"
The squad raced across the battlefield in their captured Warthogs, amazed by the progress they made in a short amount of time. It wasn't long before they had reached the Phantom, which was just finishing dropping off two Elites, four Grunts, and a prefabricated checkpoint (pre-built building that can be dropped in the middle of a battlefield. Both sides have them). Karj leapt out of his Warthog and walked up to the Elite in command.
"Greetings. We're glad to get reinforcements. Our current objective is to secure a secondary entrance into the main human base. We have vehicles, but they can't fit your squad. What do you suggest?"
"An alternate entrance? Hmm... We'll move along the perimeter of the main base and try to locate a supply bay. We can go on foot. In the mean time your squad should see if it's possible to infiltrate the base through the air ducts on top. You're all small enough to fit, but I'm not. Good luck!"
Karj returned to his Warthog and relayed the new information to the squad. If they could use Jacople's squad's belt grapples again they could eventually reach the roof, where the temperature ducts would be located. Provided none of them fell into the cooling fluid and froze to death or was immolated in a furnace they could move into the main base through the air control room, then move to the security room and open the door. Hopefully they could deactivate the auto-defenses as well. From there they might try to seize information or technology, but their primary concern would be getting out. Once the main doors were open the human defenders could be overwhelmed by the larger Covenant beings, so the Jackals were free to go if they could survive to that point. If the final assault failed, the Covenant would retreat and glass the world.
"Squad, let's move to the west wall. Its the least defended because there are no doors there, so we can probably scale it without too much interference. Move out!"

As Jacople power slided round a rock he thought about the coming mission. After his experience with the human magnum and assault rifle he decided to keep using them. Luckily though, the phantom did have a supply of human ammo. As he looked at Karj driving next to him he realized that they were both thinking the same thing. If they succeeded the Jackals would receive glory...If they failed, chances are they would die.
As the complex loomed before them they stooped. The western end was lightly defended it seemed but even from here they could see the smoke fire and missiles from the point MONOLITH. The jackals would have to abandon the warthogs here if they wanted to remain unseen so they park behind some rocks and jumped out. As Jacople cocked his pistol Karj readied his beam rifle. From here they would take out as many guards as possible but they would have to die before anyone could raise the alarm. "OK men" Karj whispered "Line up a man, state your target no two men go for the same person. 3....2....1....FIRE!" 3 marines fell instantly and two seconds later the other two died. "Perfectly executed men" Karj said. As the Jackals pulled out grappling guns they aimed.......and fired. As the Jackals reached the top of the complex they pulled at weapons. There was a soft sound as they activated there plasma shields and a click as the cocked there guns. "Lock and load men we are going in" Jacople said spying a air vent. Placing a plasma grenade on the lock he blasted in open. "I'll go first" said Jacople as he jumped into the blackness.

"I'll bring up the rear and make sure we're not ambushed. Move in, squad!"
Karj watched, beam rifle in hand, as the group leapt into the dark shaft. One by one they entered it, falling a few feet and vanishing. At last they had all taken the plunge, and Karj stepped up to the broken vent door. He took a deep breath, then jumped. Moments later he hit the cold water below. His muscles locked up against the frigid fluid pressing against them, and he only barely managed to grab the edge of the duct. He hoped the rest of the group had been as lucky, for if they had been swept away in only a few moments they would fall into a superheated vat. Death would be quick, but painful. The group would have to find a way around this vat if they were to proceed.
Taking his weapon Karj leaned into the tube that led to certain death. He aimed the beam rifle and fired, blowing a small hole in the top of the synthetic pathway. He bashed the area with his gun until a hole large enough for him to fit through (though only barely) had been formed. He then waited for the squad to move through the gap, remaining at the rear of the group. Once through they could drop into the boiler room, and from there fight their way to the security room. It would be tough, since they could no longer rely on the Invincible Avatar's guidance (once inside the base Covenant communications are jammed). They had only their personal power to fall back on, and could only hope that it would be enough.
"Move through and secure the boiler room, squad! I'll watch our backs."

Jacople lit his torch under his assault rifle. Looking around he realized they had climbed into some sort of hangar. Luckily it was deserted. It seems almost everyone was out the front fighting against the main force. "OK men lets look for another way into this place." As the Jackals sniffed around Jacople found more ammo for his human weapons. Suddenly a door opened to his right and 5 marines came in. "Crap. Look for cover!" As Jacople dived behind some nearby barrels ((heheh convenient lol)) he fired hard! Suddenly though two of the marines stooped firing. They had to reload but oddly...They didn't move. Then Jacople realized why the men had come. To restock. "Men, wait for them to use there ammo, then nail them." After a couple of minutes the men went dry and were quickly executed. But it was to late. One of the men had called for help! "Karj, me and my men will hold off the enemy. You take your men and find that entrance!" But you'll be Kial-" "GO! NOW! There isn't much time!" As Jacople and his men pilled up whatever they could find at the door Karj saluted. "This world isn't good enough for you Jacople." "If you can find that door Karj I won't need to die. You position those warthogs at the door. We can use the chain guns!" "Karj! GO NOW!"

Trying not to look back Karj and his squad ran jumped through the gap between the heating vents, dropping into the storage room below. They had to hurry, or Jacople's life would be forfeit. Blowing their way out of the room they rounded a corner and took out a surprised marine, then ran along the hallway. The security room had to be close. They burst into every room they saw, but most were useless to them. At last they came to a door with an electronic lock. It was reinforced and monitored by security cameras, and two marines stood in front of it. This had to be the one.
The squad moved around the corner and surprised the marines, but one managed to evade their fire and run for cover. There was no time to chase him, so the squad moved to the lock. Taking up a position they allowed Skont, who had a decent understanding of human technology, to reroute it to allow entry. After a minute this was accomplished, but the thunder of human boots in the hallway was drawing closer. They would need to move fast. Running inside they shut the door behind them and began to hack into the security terminal. They would need five minutes; it was less than three before the humans would arrive. All except for Skont took up positions around the room, overturning desks and hiding behind camera monitors. They would have to try and hold the position.
Twelve marines burst in two minutes into the hacking, and Karj's heart sank. They were outnumbered three to one. They would just have to kill as many as they could. The squad opened fire, but the humans were ready. The constant rattle of their assault rifles kept the Jackals in their positions while other humans with pistols moved in. Karj dropped two with his beam rifle before being forced to retreat into cover. The humans could pick them off at their leisure, but Karj had one final plan. It was possible that destroying the security terminal would open the door, but it might also jam it shut. Still, they were out of options. Karj fired his beam rifle at the screen twice, then again at the data processing unit. Metal rained down around Skont, who shrieked as a shard hit his arm. And in the distance, the sound of an angry Elite could be heard.
Moments later two Elites burst into the control room and mowed down the human defenders with plasma swords. The Jackals burst out of hiding and contributed to the fray. It was all over soon. The humans had been so close to victory, but had failed. But had the Covenant squad truly succeeded? One of the Elites, the injured one that had been assigned to Karj, rushed forward to help Skont. The other, who had been looking for a second entrance, helped Karj to his feet.
"Excellent work. You managed to survive the onslaught."
"What about the main door?"
"Unfortunately it stayed shut. My squad and a few remnants of yours got in through a blast crater in the side of the base. There is, however, a second security terminal that the main door can be opened from: the command center in the bunkers below the base. First, though, we need to get Jacople out of the boiler room before he is killed by the humans. My squad has the manpower necessary. Let's break him out!"
The two squads rushed up the stairs and cut into the marines at the door with plasma fire, cutting a bloody swath through them. Five fell, but seven managed to escape down the hallway and into the bunkers below. No doubt they would be encountered later. In the mean time Karj rapped on the door, trying to get Jacople's attention.
"My friend, reinforcements have arrived in the base, but we still need to open the main door. Hurry out of there and we can be in the tunnels before the humans know you are gone."

Jacople's ears roared from the sound of three chain guns. He barely herd the voice over his intercom but he just made it out. "Men! Reinforcements are in the base! Lets blow this joint!" As Jacople jumped out of his warthog he saw one of his man slump to the floor. Dead. Shot by a sniper. "LETS GO GO GO!" But as Jacople tried to leave his last man stayed behind. "Jacople go. These bastards have killed enough of my friends." Suddenly Jacople noticed a steel case on the floor. A bomb! "Go Jacople...Just go...These guys wont go anywhere." Jacople saluted his fellow soldier and ran off. "Karj, Karj, come in!" I'm on my way. But I'm on my own. The rest of my men...didn't make it." Suddenly Jacople herd a loud rumble...The bomb had gone off. "Thank you Olenka. You saved me." And Jacople ran around the corner.

As the newly reinforced squad was joined by Jacople, Karj bowed his head in silence a moment. They had lost many brave Jackals to secure their objectives. Now only one final goal remained: point ATLAS, beneath the main base. Karj gave the order to move and the squad proceeded down the hallway. It was strangely deserted... most of the humans must've fled into the tunnels. At last the entrance they had heard so much about opened before them, and they began to descend the steps.
It was dark at the bottom, so Karj pushed the vents on his plasma rifle forward, allowing the core to radiate a little light. He was sure he could hear something moving in the darkness, but nothing could be found. The squad moved toward their objective, staying close together, until Karj ran into something: a supply crate. A barricade made of supply crates. What was going...
"Get down!"
Humans ran from across the tunnel, their assault rifles glowing with repeated fire. The Covenant forces leapt to the ground, trying to avoid the deadly bullets flying at them. The humans had throwing everything they had in the main base into this last defense, it seemed. The group would have to break through it to end the battle for the base. Taking a deep breath Karj lined up the closest human in his crosshairs and fired, downing him. Another one immediately took his place. It would be a long, hard battle to reach the command center. They could only hope they would succeed.

Jacople rounded a corner then jumped back behind it. He had found Karj, and a group of marines! Jacople shot wildly hitting at least one marine. Then he jumped behind his wall to reload. "Karj! I'm here!" Karj turned around his face alight with pleasure when he was shot in the shoulder. "SHIT! NO! KARJ!" Jacople raced around the corner firing his gun hard and slid next to Karj. "It is only a flesh wound Jacople" Karj croaked. Jacople reloaded and looked at the shoulder. "I'll deal with you after this human scum." Jacople jumped up. His blood raging. Pistol in one hand assault rifle in the other. BLAM BLAM to head shots from the pistol the assault rifle went wild spraying across four marines and then the rest of the squad took the opportunity to throw three plasma grenades. BOOM! "Well that was easy...Now Karj, what are we going to do with you?"
